As a survivor of sexual assault, I understand the fear and shame that can come with speaking up about your experience. However, I also know firsthand the healing and empowerment that can come from sharing your story and breaking the silence.
with my platform, Strength Over Silence, I encourage survivors to find their voice and use it to help themselves and others.
Here are some tips for speaking up and breaking the silence:
Start with a trusted person: It can be scary to share your story with others, but starting with a trusted friend, family member, or therapist can be a good first step. They can provide support and validation, and help you build the confidence to share your story more widely.
Connect with other survivors: Connecting with other survivors can be a powerful way to feel less alone and find strength in numbers. Consider joining a support group or online community for survivors, where you can share your experiences and offer support to others.
Practice self-compassion: Speaking up about your experience can be difficult, and it's important to be kind and gentle with yourself throughout the process. Remember that healing is a journey, and there is no right or wrong way to do it.
